Dr. Smith has provided professional clincal nutrition testing, therapeutic and health maintenance services and naturopathic educational, lifestyle and/or mind-body connection counseling since November, 1981, when she first established her business.

She is often interviewed on a variety of nutrition-related topics by radio and television (NBC and CBS networks) news reporters, in addition to having her own TV Show titled, "Dr. Smith's Secrets To Healing," from 2009 to 2010.

In February, 2009, Dr. Smith established her  "Ask Dr. Donna" Blog, Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, and Self-Growth.com web pages and in August, 2009, her Boomer Authority web page to guide baby boomers in anti-aging protocols, principles and education.  However, due to limited time, she now focuses her postings on LinkedIn, regularly and Facebook, periodically.

Discovered God's Healing Medicine - Herbs

Dr. Smith is often asked how and when did she first become interested in nutritional science and naturopathy.  It was the summer of 1975, at the age of 24, when she first discovered and witnessed the healing properties of herbs and the value of organic farming when on sabbatical in Spokane, Washington.

One day, her roommate, Theresa, who also attended church with Dr. Smith, loaned her a book on herbs.  One of the first herbs that got her attention was Yarrow. She read that collecting Yarrow flower tops, steeping them in boiled water, after removing the water from the stove (you boil the water, not the herb), made an excellent hair rinse for blonds. She also read that Yarrow was an herbal blood thinner and its leaves could instantly stop bleeding.

Little Amy's Injury

The following weekend, Dr. Smith and another church friend, Melinda, along with Melinda's 4-year-old daughter, Amy, went into the country, just outside the city of Spokane, to gather yarrow flower tops for their hair -- as all three of them were blonds. While enjoying the venture, little Amy fell and cut her knee on a rock. Blood began to run down her leg. Dr. Smith quickly crushed some Yarrow leaves and witnessed her first miracle of the intrinsic, medicinal properties of herbs  when the Yarrow leaves instantly stopped the bleeding from the cut on Amy's little injured knee.

Life Changing Experience - Dr. Smith's Life Mission Discovered

From that point on, Dr. Smith's life's changed. What started as a curious interest became a divine mission and driving force of ongoing 24/7 study and pursuit of the professional education, training, degrees and certifications she has today that would assist her in helping others, just as she had little Amy on that beautiful, sunny afternoon in the summer of 1975.

Nutritional Clinic

From its establishment in November, 1981, to March 31, 2009, Dr. Smith's clinical nutrition business has evolved and expanded to successfully assisting thousands of clients improve and maintain their health,.  With the assistance of five (5) employees to assist her, Dr. Smith provided in-office clinical examinations, laboratory testing and consultations, in addition to providing parallel services by mail, e-mail and telephone consulting, nationally and internationally, for those who did not have a practitioner in their community with Dr. Smith's qualifications, or did not have her expertise and clincal experience.

Local Client Services - From Clinic To By Mail Services

On April 1, 2009, Dr. Smith reorganized her local Texoma client services to provide them by mail, e-mail and through telephone consultations, just like she had been since she opened her business in 1981 for long-distance family and friends referred by her local clients, and closed her local walk-in clinic of 27.5 years.  Why? 

To open up the time previously used for "in-office" physical examinations for writing e-books and more articles on a variety of dietary, clinical nutrition and naturopathic (natural healing) topics.  Dr. Smith has a wealth of knowledge and clinical experience to share with the public, as you will observe in the articles she has written since the 1970's.  Check out our free webpage titled, Articles By Dr. Smith and its attached Library of Articles.
